I think we can all agree that we have a blog because we wish other people would read it. If you’re just starting out, it might not seem possible. It might seem like an incredibly outlandish goal with all the other blogs out there. But I promise you, it is possible to bring more traffic to your small blog.
I’m a perfect example of this. Even though everyone has a mental health, mental health blogs aren’t the most popular among blogging niches. Finance, food, and parenting blogs are much more popular, and they tend to get the most pageviews.
When I started implementing these 3 strategies to my blog, I started to see my traffic grow tremendously.
If you want to make money blogging, you can!
The best way to make money through blogging is to have a WordPress, self-hosted blog. Making money on any free blogging platforms, such as Blogger, is very difficult. Most companies don’t view them as professional as self-hosted WordPress blogs. In fact, most of the networks on this list only work if you’re self-hosted and own your domain.
Why I’ve chosen to use Bluehost for the past two years:
- It’s extremely affordable by starting at $3.75 per month
- WordPress through Bluehost is free (HUGE savings!)
- You’ll get a free blog domain
- You’ll look more professional
- You get to earn money from your blog
Pinterest is by far my greatest traffic source. In fact, it’s accounted for 95% of my traffic in the past 3 months.
This is all because I read a blog post about Tailwind. The author talked about how much Tailwind was a game-changer for them. So, I decided to run an experiment. I signed up for a trial version of Tailwind.
Within a day of signing up and scheduling pins in advance, I saw my traffic dramatically rise. I more than quadrupled my pageviews. The numbers spoke for themselves, so I knew I had to bite the bullet and pay for the affordable service. I haven’t looked back since!
When I first started using Pinterest, I was manually pinning about ten pins a day. It was hard to remember and hard to keep up with. Now I realize how much time I was wasting!
I currently pin about 30 pins a day. I usually do 5 of my own pins and 25 pins from other blogs. This way I’m not spamming anybody with my own content. I tend to schedule over 300 pins in advance, so that’s an even bigger time saver!
I use Buffer to stay active on Twitter by scheduling tweets in advance. The thing about Twitter is the timeline goes by so fast, and your content can easily get lost in the sea of other posts. I love Buffer, because it helps you be seen even when you’re not online.
Buffer takes so much of the guessing work out. By using the time optimizing tool, you get to find the best times you should be posting. At the end of the day, you get to see your analytics and how well your tweets performed.
You can pay for the service, but I continue to use the free version. With the free version, I get to schedule up to 10 tweets in advance. Even with just scheduling 3 tweets a day, I’ve been gaining an average of 5 new followers a day.
You can also schedule for other social media accounts like Instagram and Facebook.
Every blogger loves when people read their content. They love it even more when people comment on their blog posts.
A great way to bring traffic to your own blog is to engage with other bloggers. The easiest way to do this is to comment on their posts.
The catch: Actually read the blog post. Be genuine in your comments. For the love of all things chocolate, don’t just self-promote. That’s the quickest way to be ignored, and your comment might even be deleted. Plus, there’s usually a spot to link back to your blog when you’re filling out your information.
You can even shoot them a compliment on their social media accounts. Follow their social media pages to show them that you appreciate all the work they do.
