Overthinking kills our mind. We become mush because of it. It turns good things bad and bad things worse.

It’s made me second guess my relationships with the people I care about. It’s made me question the future I have with my favorite man in the world. Overthinking has even made me question my life.

A huge contributor to my constant overthinking is my struggle with anxiety. Half the time I think I’m just thinking until my boyfriend points out that I’m thinking way too much. He tells me all the time that it’s not good to overthink all the time.

Along my journey, I’ve learned that all overthinking does is kill our happiness. To combat this, here are 5 ways to help yourself keep your happiness:

5 Reasons Why You Should Stay Off Social Media

5 Reasons Why You Should Stay Off Social Media

Social media is the plague.

It threatens our time, our relationships and even ourselves.

So many studies have proved that social media is harming us, but why are we still so engrossed by it?

That’s because once we become involved with it, it’s incredibly hard to get rid of. It’s everywhere we look. On our phones, our TVs, and even on the billboards we pass on the highway.

I only use social media because I run this blog and I can reach so many people I wouldn’t have been able to help otherwise. Other than that, I stay clear of it. Here’s why:

I write a lot about recovery on this blog. I’ve always tried to be as honest as I can, so that maybe I’ll be able to help one person. Just one person, and it’ll all be worth it.

But as much as I try to help others, it’s still hard for me to help myself sometimes. Because I am addicted to self-harm.

I started to get really serious about my recovery around October 2015, but I still relapse now and then. My biggest stint of recovery was a little over two months. Then I relapsed and recovered for about another month until I relapsed again.  (UPDATE: I made it to one year SH free!)

There’s a lot of shame and guilt that comes with relapsing. You feel like a failure. Maybe you start to think that you’d rather stay addicted than to start all over. Maybe you feel like you just don’t deserve to be clean.

Whether you have a drug or alcohol addiction, an eating disorder, a self-harm addiction like me, or everything in between, recovery is incredibly hard.

With recovery, you have to learn to be selfish. You have to put you and your recovery first. If anyone wants to sabotage that for you, you should reconsider why they’re still in your life.

Remember, everyone’s road to recovery is different. Don’t let that hinder your success.

What steps do you need to do after you relapse?

Don't ever take your partner for granted. From complimenting to apologizing, here are 7 ways to show your partner you care every day.

7 Ways to Show Your Partner You Care Every Single Day

As humans, we let our lives become victim to routine. And our relationship with our partner is usually one of the first things to be affected.

We have to actively show our partner we love them each and every day. One of the best ways to do this is to make them a priority. Because it’s what they deserve.

When I first started focusing more on making my partner feel safe and secure, our relationship began to improve. Communication improved. Understanding each other increased. And this means I started to feel more calm and protected in our relationship.

Here are the 7 little ways we can make a big difference in our partner’s life:

A few years ago, I became unrecognizable. My mind was unraveling at the seems, and my depression was taking over my life again.

I hated my job. I felt lonely all the time, and I hated my life. I hated myself so much that I dreamed about dying every day.

Nothing could make me genuinely smile. Nothing made me look forward to the next day. Nothing kept me living anymore.

I knew something needed to change, but I had no idea what. I had no energy to do anything anymore, and as soon as I got home from my retail job, I just crashed and laid in bed for the rest of the night. Then I would wake up and have to do it all over again.

Depression affects us all in many ways. We lose motivation. We lose relationships with people we used to be close to. We even lose ourselves

My relationship with my boyfriend has definitely been affected the most out of any type of relationship I have with people. I get angry. I get cold. I even have to force myself to even text him back.

The worst part of depression is that I fell back into the same self-harm patterns I used to have. It got so bad that I got addicted to it, and now I’m battling every day to recover from my addiction.

Despite the serious side effects of depression, we can also pick up some pretty nasty habits that we kind of like to keep secret.
