I discovered my love for Dollar Tree about 7 months ago. And now I go probably at least twice a month.

If ya don’t know, everything at Dollar Tree is just one dollar. They sell pretty much everything you could think of, so you can buy a lot and not spend a lot at all. This also means that you can try to help remedy your anxiety for very cheap.

Here are 10 things you can buy at Dollar Tree to help your anxiety:

10 Things to Buy at Dollar Tree to Help Your Anxiety

1. COLORING BOOKS

Coloring books are all the craze when it comes to trying to remedy some symptoms of anxiety. Coloring is so relaxing, especially if you put on some soothing music.

Just breathe into the designs in front of you and focus on staying in the lines. In no time, you’ll start to feel yourself zone out and forget about the problems going on in your head.

Dollar Tree has both kid and adult coloring books. They also sell colored pencils, crayons, and colored markers.

2. SUDOKU

I think a lot of people are intimidated by Sudoku puzzles. You might even be thinking that you have to be some math wizard in order to complete them. But all you gotta do is fill the grid so that every row and column contains the digits 1 to 9, without repeating any of the numbers.

All it takes is a little strategy and you’re good to go. If I can do it, you can do it.

3. CANDLES

Watching the flicker of a candle is very soothing. Just the smell alone can reduce stress. Aromatherapy can also increase feelings of contentment and help us relax.

There are tons of scents, brands, and sizes at Dollar Tree. They’re not the best quality, but they always help calm me nonetheless.

4. TEA

Not only can tea be super yummy, but it has a countless number of health benefits. Tea boosts your immune system, protects your body from cancer, contains antioxidants, and so on.

There are so many different types that it’s easy to find at least one that tickles your fancy. Don’t like it hot? Try it cold with a slice of lemon. Don’t like it plain? Add a couple teaspoons of maple syrup.

I highly recommend Chamomile. It gently calms your nervous system and helps you sleep.

5. COOKING BOOKS

Cooking helps my anxiety because it helps me distract myself. I have to focus on the ingredients and the amount I’m using. I have to pay attention to the timing of everything and make sure I don’t burn every meal. Oh yeah, I also have to make sure I don’t chop up my finger as I cry along to the onions.

Me and my sister love looking through them and cooking a meal together. And you can’t beat the price of a dollar cooking book. Seriously such a good deal.

6. WORD SEARCHES

I used to do word searches all the time. I did them before bed. I did them just laying on the couch. I even did them on my breaks between college classes.

I got to the point where I recognized the different tricks the word search machines would use to make their puzzles. I could complete them so fast, but they still always helped to distract my annoying, racing thoughts.

7. BUBBLE WRAP

Bubble wrap is the perfect sensory object, because it’s an instant stress reliever. It’s a great distraction, and it gives you something to do and something else to focus on.

Let’s not forget how satisfying it is to pop bubble wrap. I could pop some every day if no one got annoyed by it.

8. PLAY-DOH

Play-Doh is another great sensory object, because it is very similar to a stress ball. You can morph it into any shape you want, and you can really let your creativity shine.

Many child therapists give their patients Play-Doh to help ease anxiety during the session. This amazing stress reliever is also used as an object in play therapy.

9. MAKEUP

I used to never wear makeup. Maybe a little mascara here and there. But now I’ll spend five or ten minutes doing various eyeshadow looks and paring it with a corresponding lipstick.

I still don’t do a full face of makeup, but I did discover that doing my makeup is so relaxing. Makeup is an art.

Dollar Tree sells many amazing cruelty-free brands, such as E.L.F. and Wet N Wild.

10. CROSSWORDS

I’m not a huge fan of crossword puzzle, because frankly I suck at them. But I do know several people who love them.

Whether you’re awesome at them or struggle like me, the attempt of doing crosswords is enough to distract you from your own thoughts. You have to really use your noggin and engage in trivia.
