Here are 6 “new age” spiritual ways for helping anxiety.

Spiritual Ways to Calm Anxiety

1. LOWER CHAKRAS

Chakras are essentially a network of seven major energy centers arranged vertically along the core of your body.

(There are multiple different systems of Chakras, but I personally use the Western Seven Chakra System.)

You can learn more about chakras in this enlightening book.

An infographic of the 7 main chakras. On the left is says the names of the chakras. On the right, it describes them.

The three lowest chakras are the root, the sacral, and the solar plexus chakras.

These chakras are considered your physical chakras, and they are responsible for your physical and emotional identity.

Signs of an Imbalanced Root Chakra:

  • Lack of Motivation
  • Feeling Disconnected
  • Anger and Short Temper
  • Impatience
  • Feeling Stuck
  • Greediness

Signs of an Imbalanced Sacral Chakra:

  • Depression
  • Low Self-Esteem and Insecurity
  • Fear
  • Jealousy
  • Insecurity
  • Detachment

Signs of an Imbalanced Solar Plexus Chakra:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Codependency
  • Lack of Self-Control
  • Inability to Set or Maintain Boundaries
  • Addiction

How to Balance:

There are several ways to balance an underactive or overactive chakra.

Here are some of the most straightforward ways.

⭐ Listen to Meditation Music:

  • Root: 256 Hz
  • Sacral: 288 Hz
  • Solar Plexus: 320 Hz
Be sure to check out my meditation YouTube channel, Peaceful Awakening Meditations!

⭐ Speak Positive Affirmations

  • Root: I am…
  • Sacral: I feel…
  • Solar Plexus: I do…

⭐ Diffuse Essential Oils

  • Root: Patchouli, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Myrrh
  • Sacral: Orange, Sandalwood, Neroli, Ylang Ylang
  • Solar Plexus: Lemon, Ginger, Juniper, Geranium

I currently use Plant Therapy oils, but Art Naturals, Aura Cacia, and NOW are also cruelty-free.

⭐ Use Crystals Associated with Chakra:

  • Root: Red Jasper, Smoky Quartz, Hematite
  • Sacral: Orange Calcite, Citrine, Orange Carnelian
  • Solar Plexus: Tiger’s Eye, Yellow Jasper, Lemon Quartz

⭐ Wear Colors Associated with Chakra:

  • Root: Red
  • Sacral: Orange
  • Solar Plexus: Yellow

⭐ Eat Foods Associated with Chakra

  • Root: Red Potatoes, Strawberries, Cherries, Tomatoes
  • Sacral: Oranges, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Coconuts
  • Solar Plexus: Lemons, Corn, Bananas, Yellow Squash, Pineapple

I listen to meditation music every day throughout my day as a way to remain as balanced as I can.

It’s one of my favorite spiritual ways to help manage my anxiety (and depression).

(P.S. I find the throat chakra to be crucial in managing social anxiety.)

2. USE CRYSTALS

Not only are crystals and stones incredibly beautiful, but they can also be powerfully healing.

I like to think of crystals as bringing nature inside.

When you’re out in nature, the sun, the rain, the clouds, the grass, the trees, rivers, lakes, and oceans…they all help ground and make us feel connected to the earth.

Bringing crystals indoors helps bring these healing properties into your environment and surround you with their benefits.

Favorite Anxiety Calming Crystals:

1. Rose Quartz

2. Black Tourmaline

3. Amazonite

How to Use Crystals:

⭐ Meditate: Hold them during meditation or hold them when you feel depressed or stressed.

⭐ On Your Body: Carry them around with you in your pocket or purse. Wear them as a necklace or bracelet.

⭐ Surrounding Space: Place them around your home, especially on nightstands, window sills, desks, and by electronics. Put them in your pillow while you sleep.

The main thing to note is to use crystals with intention.

Crystals won’t work fully for you unless you allow them to – free of judgment.

3. MEDITATING

Finding meditations for anxiety online has really improved areas of my mental health in drastic ways.

I used to think I didn’t have the time to meditate.

Anytime I tried, I gave up because I thought my mind would never let me practice effectively anyway.

But having less anxiety and a more balanced mood is more than worth any time and commitment it takes.

Benefits of Meditation:

  • Less anxiety and depression
  • Less stress and feelings of overwhelm
  • Learning to be mindful and stay in the moment longer
  • Increases feelings of happiness
  • Promotes positive mental health
  • Improves sleep
  • Reduces anger
  • Gives feelings of clarity and calm

Meditating is like a muscle: The more you practice it, the better and more effective it will be.

4. YOGA

You’re probably thinking, “Just the thought of yoga stresses me out! I can’t even touch my toes!”

Well, let me tell ya folks: Yoga is for everyone!

There are so many different types of yoga, and I’m sure you’ll find one that’s right for your mind and body.

One of my absolute favorite places to learn more about yoga poses, flows, and sequences is Yoga Download.

There are a countless selection of free yoga classes, from beginner all the way to advanced (as well as different lengths).

If you find you’re enjoying yoga and want to dive deeper into the practice, you can get a membership to Yoga Download for 50% off here, which is a total steal!

The best part is you can do yoga in the comfort of your own home.

My favorite way to do yoga is outside so I can ground myself while breathing into my poses with the wind.

5. AFFIRMATIONS

Speaking positive affirmations help reveal the limiting beliefs you have about yourself.

You’ve spent so many years believing the anxiety in your life and thinking that’s all your life would be.

You’ve thought you would never break free from anxiety, be courageous, or have enough strength to unapologetically live your life.

The goal of positive affirmations is to work at dismantling these beliefs.

Life actually becomes A LOT easier when you change how you see yourself and the situations you’re in.

Anxiety Affirmations:

  1. I am more than my anxiety.
  2. Anxiety serves me in a positive way.
  3. My struggles are opportunities to grow.
  4. I cultivate the patience to overcome anxiety.
  5. I use my unique strengths to move beyond anxiety.

6. ESSENTIAL OILS

I love finding more holistic approaches for managing my wellbeing.

Aromatherapy has been used for thousands of years, and it provides countless benefits.

When I started to incorporate essential oils into my everyday routine, I started to feel more grounded, more confident, and more relaxed.

Essential Oils for Anxiety:

  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Lemongrass
  • Patchouli
  • Bergamot

I recommend Plant Therapy essential oils, because they’re high quality, vegan, and cruelty-free!

You can get started with essential oils with this 7 & 7 Essential Oil Set, which features 7 single oils and 7 synergies.
